What is the difference between AquaDash and AquaDash Extreme?

AquaDash is our fantastic inflatable playground on water, perfect for all fun-seekers. An attraction that the whole family will enjoy, you will slide, climb and bounce your way through the thrilling obstacles, beating each one and racing your friends and Family.

AquaDash Extreme takes fun to new heights! You'll get all the fun of AquaDash PLUS the awesome addition of double slides from the 3m and 5m dive platforms!

What is the price?

AquaDash sessions are £12.25 for all customers, regardless of age. AquaDash Extreme sessions are £14.75 for all customers.

What should I wear?

You can either wear appropriate swimwear (as you would for a general swimming session) or - as you will be required to wear a buoyancy aid - you may choose to wear t-shirt and shorts for your session if this is more comfortable. 

Glasses and all jewellery, including rings and stud earrings, must be removed for safety reasons. We have lockers available in the changing village (£1 coin required) if you need to store any valuables.

Are there changing rooms and showers?

Customers can use changing rooms and showers as normal. We have lockers available in the changing village (£1 coin required) if you need to store any valuables.

What time should I arrive?

Please arrive on site 15 minutes before your session start time, and it is essential to check-in in the reception area. You will then be escorted to watch a safety briefing before heading downstairs to get changed and ready and receive your buoyancy aid.

What happens if I'm late for my session?

Unfortunately, if you are late arriving and miss the safety briefing, you will not be able to take part in that session.

I have children of different ages, can they play together?

Yes, it is one of the few activities that groups, and families can do together at the same time. The adult to child ratio for the use of the AquaDash/AquaDash Extreme is as follows:

  • 6 to 8-year-old – 1 adult to 2 children.
  • 9+ years are able to use AquaDash/AquaDash Extreme without an adult or guardian.

It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to ensure that their children are old enough to participate.

Can anyone do the Dash?

It doesn’t matter how small, daring or inexperienced you might be, AquaDash and AquaDash Extreme will appeal to all fitness levels and swimming abilities.

AquaDash/AquaDash Extreme is not recommended for participants who: are pregnant, have neck or back problems, heart problems or have had recent surgery. You should consider your physical condition and limitations - and those of any children you are responsible for - before deciding to participate.

What if a member of my party has special needs/concerns?

Please tell us and we’ll do our best to ensure that they get the most out of the experience with no hassle or fuss. We can accommodate most customers with disabilities so please let us know of any mobility restrictions or additional needs.

Can I wear swimming goggles?

Yes, you can.

How long is a session?

The entire session will be 50 minutes, this includes a short safety briefing, buoyancy aid fitting and approximately 45 minutes on AquaDash/AquaDash Extreme.  

Do I have to be able to swim?

All swimming abilities are welcome. General water confidence is not an essential requirement; however, it may make the experience more enjoyable. All customers will wear a buoyancy aid.

Do I have to stay with my child during the session?

For children up to and including the age of 8 an adult will have to accompany them on AquaDash/AquaDash Extreme. The ratio of an adult accompanying children is 1 adult to every 2 children aged 6-8 years.

Can I leave before the session is up?

Yes, you can leave before the session is finished.

Can I go for a Swim?

You may go for a swim after your session is finished, provided there is space available in a suitable public swim session and you meet our swim ratios. Speak to a member of the team on poolside if unsure.

We are sorry but it is not possible to access the pool before your AquaDash/Extreme session as the safety briefing takes place in our foyer.

Will my children get bored?

AquaDash and AquaDash Extreme are great fun for everyone and the perfect family activity. In addition to the recommended course route, children can set their own challenges and race against friends.

How busy will it be?

The maximum number of participants per session is 45 for AquaDash and 55 for AquaDash Extreme, so numbers will range from 0 – 45/55 at any given time.

Are you allowed to take/use a camera or filming equipment?

The use of video or photography is prohibited on AquaDash/AquaDash Extreme, and by spectators in the pool area.


How do I book?

Bookings for AquaDash and AquaDash Extreme can be made online only  by clicking here. Simply select an available session and enter in the number of ticket types you require. An email confirmation will be sent.

How far in advance can I book?

AquaDash and AquaDash Extreme can be booked 28 days in advance on a rolling basis.  For example, if you were booking for Saturday 31st July, bookings would open on Friday 2nd July at Midnight.

When does AquaDash and AquaDash Extreme run?

This depends on when you are booking.  Please visit edinburghleisure.co.uk/aquadash for a full list of currently available bookable session dates and times.

I can't see the session I'm looking for?

If you are within the booking period and your session is not there, unfortunately this means it's sold out.  Please select another suitable date.

What is the AquaDash/AquaDash Extreme cancellation policy?

We are sorry but once you have paid for your AquaDash session, there is no refund and we will not move your booking if you change your mind, so please ensure you book the correct session and are sure you can attend before completing purchase.

What if someone in the group cannot make it?

We are sorry but part-refunds and part-booking transfers are not permitted. You are welcome to bring (a) replacement(s) as long as the overall group size doesn’t exceed the number of spaces booked and your group still meets the ratios (1 adult to every 2 children aged 6 to 8-year-old)

Can I add to my booking?

If you already have a booking and wish to add to your group, you can book more spaces online in the normal way. This is subject to availability, and the revised group must still meet the requirement of 1 adult to every 2 children aged 6 to 8-year-old in the group.

Just remember to have both confirmation emails to hand when you check in.

Can I book an exclusive session?

All our Aquadash sessions are bookable online only. If you wish to have exclusive use of AquaDash you must book all the available spaces at your chosen time. If you don't book all the available spaces at your chosen time, the remaining spaces can be booked by other customers.

Can I watch my family and friends take part?

The seating located around the main pool and dive pool is available for customers and friends if they wish to view others using AquaDash/AquaDash Extreme.

Is there parking at the Royal Commonwealth Pool?

We have a large customer car park to the rear of the building with an additional small disabled and parent & child car park to the front with ramp access to the building. Parking is free for the first 3 hours.  Please take a ticket on arrival and don't forget to validate your ticket and scan at the payment machine before you leave the building (even if your visit is free).

Is there somewhere to eat and drink?

Café refresh is open to all and offers a range of cakes, soups, sandwiches and snacks. It has great views overlooking our main pool and is open every day 8.30am - 17.45pm.

Where can I keep my personal belongings?

We have lockers available in the changing village (£1 coin required) if you need to store any valuables.

What other facilities are available at the Royal Commonwealth Pool?

We offer three multi-activity pools and a diving area with springboards, platforms and the largest swimming lesson programme in Edinburgh. Our modern, hi-spec gym offers plenty of training space and we have over 90 fitness classes per week from classic to the latest trends.

*Please check our website or latest pool programme for latest times and activities. Pre-booking is no longer required for gym or softplay. Drop in available. 

What is there to do for younger children?

For children, we have Clambers Soft Play.
