What We Do
Making a positive impact on people’s health and wellbeing is at the heart of what we do. We provide effective health and physical activity programmes to help inspire the people of Edinburgh to be active and lead healthier lives.
As well as operating 30 venues across the city, from swim centres to golf courses, we invest time, resources and expertise in developing services and programmes which reflect the needs of individuals and local communities. We provide targeted intervention programmes that seek to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals with an aim at reducing the demands on public services, using sport and physical activity as a tool for addressing some of today's health challenges.
Helping people get started and stay active is massively important in the achievement of our vision to inspire Edinburgh to be a more healthy and active city - we want everyone to reap the benefits of a healthy active lifestyle and to feel good.
It’s not money or profit that motivates us to get up in the morning, it’s people that are our number one priority, inspiring them to be active and changing lives.
As a not-for-profit organisation, any money we make is reinvested into sport and physical activity so we can continue to deliver opportunities and services for the good of all our communities.
Our development, health and community work is something we're really proud of and this is at the heart of what we do.
We have a dedicated team of people who're really passionate about getting more and more people involved in physical activity.
Our Sports and Physical Activities Development team work to create opportunities for people of all backgrounds, ages, abilities and disabilities to get involved in physical activity with a goal to become healthier and happier.
We use different approaches to get people active - setting up projects, organising outreach events and partnership working are a few methods.
