Essential maintenance and improvement works at Ainslie Park Leisure Centre

We're preparing to carry out essential maintenance and improvement works to Ainslie Park Leisure Centre. We're now able to confirm that works will be taking place from the following dates:

Swimming Pool

Closed from Monday 21st June 2021 for approximately 10 weeks.

Gym and Fitness Studio

Closed from Monday 28th June for approximately 6 weeks.

Sports Hall

The sports hall will remain open, and continue to offer:

  • Fitness classes
  • A summer programme of gymnastics and Gym Nipper classes
  • Badminton

Our original plans to carry out the works were disrupted by COVID-19. To avoid any disruption to customers, we would have liked to progress with the works when the venue was closed. Unfortunately, this wasn't possible due to the governmental restrictions put in place in the construction sector, and the nature of the work required.

We are loathed to close parts of the centre (especially after being closed due to COVID) and there is never a good time to carry out maintenance work, however, the summer is traditionally the time of year when usage at the centre is at its lowest. Hence the reason for the timing of this essential maintenance work.

Swimming Pool

Ainslie Park has been open since 1989 and the pool is now due for extensive pool tank and poolside maintenance. This includes maintenance on the pool tank mechanical and electrical equipment, replacing the air handling units, re-grouting the pool tank tiles, repairing and replacing the tiles on poolside. We’ll also be removing the bubble pool and reshaping the small pool, repairing the underwater lighting, extending the spectator area to provide additional seating, replacing windows and replacing the poolhall lights with energy efficient LED lighting.

Gym and Fitness Studio

We are also upgrading the air handling units in our gym and fitness studios.

We're extremely sorry for any inconvenience caused and we look forward to seeing you back once the works are completed. Please keep checking the website for further updates as the work progresses.
